i've finished my 2nd project from loop-d-loop, and it actually fits! wooT!!!
it's the steek vest in chocolate brown recycled yarn, but i've yet to block it. :)

being "RAK'ed" sounds a lil painful, doesn't it?
but it's the funnest thing ever!
last week I received an amazing surprise in the mail...a package from miss Sandra "Wyldeyez"!
It is my first received RAK (random acts of kindness) EVER and it really made my day.

THANKS SANDRA!

There's some....:
- denim colored sock yarn (because she read my mind all the way from Canada, and knew I've been secretly wanting to knit my first pair of socks.)
- black baby sport (mmmmm.....soft.....)
- a notebook (that expression is one that I have on my face all the time! heh)
- a jewel iron on flower (not pictured)
- some dpn's
- and loverly stitch markers! (can you believe it was her first attempt at making them? they are soooo loverly.)

And then today....
I received ANOTHER wonderful surprise!!!

a real surprise because I got it in my mailbox, and I don't expect packages from it.

i <3 these so much.
the big ring one has even a small bell on it.
so i've been shaking it all night and asking Derrick, "LOOK! It has a bell! Aren't my stitch markers pretty!?!?"

My SP also included 2 that are made of earthy browns which I LOVE. Sandra sent me a pair too like that. I dunno how these gals knew, but I love earthy type stuff. :)

I know some of the participants won't be doing the whole clue revealing thing at the end.
But I am! I love stuff like that and I think it'll be fun.

Or...you can always do your own revealing clue type thing.
For instance, (and I've thought of doing this) you could include your clues in your package and no name for the return address. :)

I just got done w/ all my clues in 10 minutes! So this won't take as much time/effort than you think.
I hope more will join in on the fun, because so far...this seems like the least time consuming and inexpensive swap!
I personally love this kinda stuff, but don't feel like you have to send me clues if you don't want. :)

this is 90% me being camera happy, and 10% knitting related.

does anyone else spend 2 hours at Joann's??? come on, i know i'm not the only freak w/o a life! heh.
so i spent 2 hours at Joann's yesterday.
i went to get stuff to make stitch markers, and supplies for the craftster knit challenge, and ended up buying too much stuff!
i couldn't help it.
i just get soooo many crafty ideas while i'm at a craft store.

and since there were so many things on sale, i made me a cheapy 1 minute project.
i can't have real plants and my boyfriend don't buy me flowers because my kitties will eat them in a second. so this is what I came up with...

fake flowers - $0.56
acrylic cup - $1.15
glass rocks - $1.00

and walla!!! some plants in a cheap vase that my cats won't eat.
well, actually they did TRY to eat it, but threw up the plastic flowers. o.O

why rocks?
cuz i hate those icky green foam thingies other people use to make flower arrangements...and most importantly because they are prettier and cost much less.

i'm also using them to put into square acrylic bowls that will contain candles.
now all i need are end tables!

My biggest knitting regret is laying on my dresser right now...

When I finally got the guts to knit something I could WEAR, I figured that the Glampyre Minisweater would be a good place to start.
I thought to myself, "oO, it looks simple enough. And it's small, so I won't feel like I wasted too much time if I end up having to chuck it. And oO...circulars!!!" Well, I wasn't so confident so I decided to knit it up in some acrylic yarn...ya know...just to see if I could do it.
Next thing I know, I'm having so much fun, and it's turning out great...
and OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE IT!!!
So I finished it hurriedly and put it on one breezy spring day....
only to curse myself for knitting it with ACRYLIC!!! It itched so bad.....oO man I was sooo annoyed. My first sweater that turned out amazing and I didn't mess up not even once and....and now I can't even wear it!!!

Every once in awhile when I pass by the dresser and see it, I try it on, only to take it off 2 seconds later because I can't stand how horrible it feels! I really wish I could wear it. :( And I can't frog it because it was my first sweater.... *sigh*

it makes me sad. :(

new update and WIP

yes, yes, it's been 2 weeks since my last post.
i'm so bad.
and i'm a slow knitter.
i finally finished my Slutty Tank (aka Steek Tank from loop-d-loop) and guess what??? it's too SHORT!!! yea, apparently I didn't gauge swatch very well, and LB Incredible is a horrible horrible yarn.
YES, I'm blaming it on the yarn!
Right now I'm working on Lelah in a peachy cotton/acrylic thrifted yarn. I'm not so sure the yarn is good w/ the pattern, and I don't even know if it will fit very well. LOL. This is my 3rd attempt because I kept messing up the first 2 times, and because I decided to go down a few needle sizes. The yarn looks shiney and icky in the photo but it's really very soft. I think I'll add a large green ribbon for the bow, or I might even gradually switch to a brown color, as I don't think I look so great in peach. We'll have to see.....

I admit I'm a perfectionist...and the uneven knit stitches on each end of the lace pattern REALLY BUGS ME.
I've been checking out everyone else's Lelah, and they look so neat and straight.
----What am I doing wrong here!?!? HELP!!!

oO also I'm super excited about the Stitch Markers Swap that just started!

so i didn't get the kitchen painted, due to me getting a cold. ergh!
but my desk IS up in the office, and my junk have already claimed it.

not much going on except that i'm knitting some armwarmers for the upcoming fall. and plus, i really need to do some stash busting!

quick update and a weekend list of things

my wrist is still hurting pretty bad so i'll keep this as short as i can...

picked out a sage green color to paint the kitchen only to find out it is too dark and desaturated (grayish) for a room w/ no windows.

this weekend i'll be painting the kitchen w/ a new color i'll be picking out tomorrow and putting together my craft room, which includes:

cleaning to make room for new desk.
setting up sewing machine.
sewing curtains w/ the japanese girls fabric.
sewing yaffa block shelf cover w/ pink corduroy fabric.
stenciling OR covering my bulletin board (if i can find fabric)
buy a staple gun.
(((and if i feel like it, sewing pillows.)))

yup, that is all until [currently very annoying] Derrick figures out how to rewire the cable to the basement.
then i can have my room all to myself!!!
and i will paint it.
but i dunno what i'll do w/ my computer.
mine and his are on a network and the monitors and chairs match...so it'll be sad to seperate them, IF that's even possible.
i wonder if i can still have my comp hooked up in my room, and just move his downstairs?????
hmmmmmm...........

went picking up freecycled stuff, and thrifting today...
got some loot:
corkboard for putting above my desk.
a basket to store my yarn.
pink corduroy fabric.
green fabric.
tiki vase for my knitting needles.
2 sks of Patons wool.
8 sks of cotton-ease.
2 sks of Patons Divine.
assorted ribbon in green, orange, black.
fabulous yellow 80s earrings to use as purse buttons.
stitch marker stuff.
silver picture frames.

man! i got a bunch of stuff.
i saw some awesome chairs i want to reupholster, even though i dunno how to.
gonna go back and get them tomorrow after getting input from D about them.
thank jebus for picture phones!!!

i did a lil jig when i found a box on my doorstep.

i did a lil jig and a squeal in B&N when i spotted IK Fall 05 from across the bookstore.

a girl got scared and looked up at me all weird.
then later she went to look at what i was jigging and squealing about...

P.S. I love LOVE markers that not only go onto the needles, but can hook on the front of the stitches. :) Just a lil tidbit there.

FREE or almost free stuff!!! ---and a WIP

My most current WIP is the steek tank from loop-d-loop, AKA my Slutty Tank. Look at how see- through it will be!!! Good thing I'll be wearing this in the summer, and not in the winter, otherwise all of WI is going to be able to tell when it's cold outside. This is LB's Incredible ribbon yarn w/ my brand new and smooth Denise Interchangeables!! The needles were hard to lock and unlock. It was a big pain in the axx! Hopefully that I just have to break them in.

My thrift store loot from a month or so ago!
Hand thrown plates (4 large, 4 salad), a single Mikasa bowl that I love, and 2 sake cups that I'll use to plant small things in...Man, I would <3<3<3 to plant mini-miniature bonsais in them. Wouldn't that be so awesome???

Following 3 fabrics are last week's thrift store loot.
How yuM is this fabric??? Theres 2 or 3 yards of it. Choclate brown w/ candy blue pin stripes. Everyday I ask it what it wants to be. But it is playing hard to get!!! grrr....But I still love it. :)

The striped fabric was clearance from Joann's that I got last summer. Last summer was when we moved into our first condo, and so I started dreaming up ideas for my craft room. So I picked up this fabric to use for curtains/pillows/slipcover for yet to be found couch. Not sure yet. I just fell in love w/ it and had to have it.
The other fabric is about 5 yards, for $2!!! wooT!!! It's stretchy...sooo...
First and foremose I want to use it in my craft room because it matches so well w/ my colors I want it to be. Secondly, if there is any left, I wanna make a skirt.

Craft room specs (that I know so far):

-East and West walls will be painted in that darker candy blue that is seen on the fabrics. Either plainly painted, or maybe some kinda texture/pattern...
-Line my desk w/ fabric (cuz that's where my WIPs and yarn will live.)
-Desk/s will be white and/or light blue and maybe w/ some fabric glued to it. :)
-Sheer/or not curtains.
-Small love seat (white?) w/ pillows

Ok, that is it so far...

These are yaffa blocks that I got from Freecycle! I love freecycle. They're just a lil dirty, and as you can see, is broken at the bottom, and PLAIN. BUT!!! I'm covering them w/ fabric! Just on the outside though, and making a roman blind type for the front so I can open/close it. This is where my fabric stash (yes, there is MORE! eeks) and/or yarn will be happily living.

This is my freecycled desk! Not too big, but hey, it was FREE and it was made of reall wood. I got a $1 tin of mistinted white from Home Depot, and now it is almost done drying. It probably won't stay white for long, or at least not THIS MUCH white. All in all, w/ paint, sandpaper, brushes, this desk only cost me $6!!! wooT! yay for thriftiness. :)

The following are less exciting but I was camera happy:

framed mirror w/ hooks from goodwill.
painting it some other color, and painting hooks or even replacing them.

Scrap fabric from Freecycle.
They're not the greatest, and there's not a whole lot of them, but they still speak to me.
They plead to not dismiss them and make them into something wonderful. Or anything..as long as they get to become something. The top blue one will probably end up being purse lining.

More scrap fabric.
All 1 yard - 3 yards.
The dark bottom one is corduroy-like and is navy.
Yes, I also see the yellow one w/ the burn stains...BUT..the holes are kinda interesting to me, and I wonder for the lightbulb to light up.

I didn't like this fabric at first glance, but once I touched it, and looked closer...I screamed to me, "Make me into a haltered Marilyn-over-airgrate-esque dress!!!"
So that, it will become.

Whew! I'm tired from all this pic taking and posting!!!
This weekend I can go look for more fabrics for my craft room, figure out the wall painting thing, and even move my desk upstairs...And then the dining table will be FREED from D using it as a desk. Then, I'll have a table to sew on. Heh. Poor dining table will never have anyone dine on it....
